Poonam Pandey Naked

It seems that at times, she regrets not having the life of a normal 20-year-old, but the overnight transition from model to mini celebrity almost makes up for it. Seven months ago, Poonam Pandey entered the world of modelling as a teenager, but an 'innocuous' statement turned her into a national sensation – she promised to strip if India won the World Cup. Several interviews, threat calls, arrest warrants and Bollywood offers later, Poonam is ready to face the naysayers with a resolve to strip if the BCCI permits her to .

She tells us that the BCCI rejected her offer to strip for the team, and she doesn't want to commit any crime by doing something she hasn't got permission for. She says, "I stand by my commitment. I am now requesting the media to ask the BCCI to give me permission."

She explains, "I'm just clearing everyone's doubts that they shouldn't take my statement in a wrong way. I don't mind the attention, and I don't regret my statement. I was happy about the team's performance." "Support me please?" she requests.

But while she tries to fulfil her promise, she is also preparing to compete in the reality show "Khatron Ke Khiladi". Even though she got various offers, including Bollywood item numbers, she isn't interested. Says Poonam, "So many offers have come, but at present, I'm only focusing on KKK. People approached me with offers for movies, item numbers, and magazine interviews, but I am not keen. Of course, my plan eventually is to work in Bollywood. Let's see how it all works out."

Of course, post the offer from the channel for the show, her statement is being termed a publicity stunt, but Poonam vehemently denies the allegation. She says, "I don't know why people are thinking this is a publicity stunt. That was a statement for team India, and it's been made into such a big issue. People do treat me differently at times but I'm okay with everything," she states confidently.

Things may be settling down now, but her parents were not happy with her statement initially. Her businessman father and mother (who is a housewife), and her brother, who is two years older than her, were quite upset. She reveals, "In the beginning they were upset. Now they're okay. They first asked me how I could say something like that. But then I explained it to them. I told them how this was not incorrect; don't interpret it as being naked and vulgar. You were born naked. So, don't take this in a cheap way. Now everything is fine between us," she insists.

However, she did face tough times right after India won the match. Says Poonam, "So many arrest warrants were announced, and being 20 and facing so many of these problems alone was very tough. I kept thinking – this is so crazy. These people are creating such a big issue. When India won, I was the happiest female on earth. I was dancing in front of the TV. But, I was not with my parents, and was alone, and I was upset. I was locked – trapped my house, I had to be underground. Soon after, I had an unexpected kidney stone problem."

But she changes the topic and we switched back to the topic of the reality show. Ask her what she'd do if she wins, and Poonam quips, "Come on, if I say something, people file court cases. So, it's better to keep my mouth shut. There's a surprise I have planned, if I win. Right now, it's only about work and no holidays. I enjoy my work like I would enjoy a holiday."

Salman and Zarine

Salman Khan is infamous for chaperoning newcomers especially if they happen to be pretty young women a la – Aishwarya, Katrina and the most recent being Zarine Khan.
After promoting Zarine in Veer, he is leaving no stone unturned to help her further her career. With Katrina busy enjoying her B-town success, Sallu is making do with her look-alike Zarine.
Reportedly the actor was accompanied by the newcomer for Aamir Khan’s Bollywood bash for Argentina musician Gustavo Sanataolla. The duo also performed together at IIFA.
The actor who joined Twitter recently, didn’t care about following Bollywood big-wigs but is following Zarine. One wonders why Sallu is so keen to keep a tab on the activities of the lissome lass.

AMD's New Chip in the Block

Advanced Micro Devices beat earnings expectations, underscoring the PC market's resilience as the chipmaker launches next-generation processors it hopes will close the gap with Intel Corp.

The perennial runner-up to Intel in the multibillion-dollar global PC microprocessor market recently started shipping its Llano chips.

Industry experts have warned in recent months that the advent of mobile wireless devices will increasingly erode PC sales. But Intel smashed expectations this week, reaffirming the health of the market -- for now.

AMD said it has seen strong demand for other recently launched low-cost chips aimed at netbooks, a niche dominated completely by Intel but under pressure from increasing tablet sales.

AMD Chief Executive Dirk Meyer left the company in early January, after disagreements with its board about the company's strategy in the exploding market for tablets and smartphones. He has yet to be replaced.

"The board is very happy with the interest we've received and is actively interviewing candidates," Chief Financial Officer Thomas Seifert, who is standing in as chief executive, told analysts on a conference call.

On a non-GAAP basis, AMD earned 8 cents a share, compared with the 5 cents per share that analysts on average expected, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

"What we saw from the Intel results, and what we're seeing again from AMD today, doing a bit better than expected, is probably a positive sign about the state of the aggregate PC world," said Joanne Feeney, an analyst at Longbow Research.

On Tuesday, Intel posted stronger-than-expected results, helping reduce concerns about the impact of Apple's iPad on PC sales.

Taking on Intel
Sunnyvale, California-based AMD has less exposure than Intel to corporate customers, making it all the more sensitive to consumers' whims.

And while any growth for AMD in netbooks would increase its market share, the segment has low margins compared with more robust notebook and desktop PCs

AMD's Llano chips are aimed at laptops and desktops and will compete with Intel's recently launched Sandy Bridge chips. Both offer integrated graphics processing meant to make additional graphics chips unnecessary.

Seifert said he expects second-quarter revenue to be flat to down 5 per cent compared with the first quarter.

He maintained his expectation for 11 per cent growth in the PC market this year, in line with other forecasts.

AMD's first-quarter revenue was $1.61 billion, up 2 per cent year over year.

Analysts had expected revenue of $1.61 billion for the first quarter and $1.59 billion for the second quarter.

Net income in the first quarter was $510 million, or 68 cents a share, compared with $257 million, or 35 cents a share, in the same period last year.

Shares of AMD slipped 0.34 per cent in extended trading after closing up 0.93 per cent at $8.71.

Meet Kate Middleton

Socialite. Fiancee of Britain's Prince William. Born January 9, 1982, in Berkshire, England, to pilot Michael and flight attendant Carole Middleton. In 1987, the Middletons founded their own party goods company, which helped to make them millionaires. Kate, the oldest of three children, has a younger sister, Philippa ("Pippa") and a younger brother, James. Middleton attended the exclusive St. Andrew's Prep School until she was 13 and then Marlborough College, where she passed 11 GCSEs and three A-level exams.

Like Prince William, Kate Middleton was a student at the University of St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland, where she graduated in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in art history. In 2001, while in her second year at the University of St. Andrews, Middleton met Prince William of Wales. Since 2003, she and the prince have been in an on-again-off-again relationship that has been the subject of intense media scrutiny.

On November 16, 2010, it was announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton were engaged after the prince proposed during a vacation to Kenya. The wedding is scheduled for April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in London. The couple made plans to live in North Wales, where Prince William is stationed with the Royal Air Force, after their marriage.

In February 2006, it was announced that Middleton would receive her own 24-hour security detail from the Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Department. This led to rumors that Middleton was being groomed for a position of royalty. In 2007, however, the couple publicly split. Media reports said otherwise, as Middleton had been spotted at several royal events accompanied by the prince, and other rumors indicated that the couple had been living together. Both parties denied the rumors.

In November 2006, Middleton accepted a position as an assistant accessories buyer with the British clothing chain Jigsaw, but it was reported that she left the company in order to study portrait photography. In 2010, it was revealed that Kate Middleton had been working on plans to start a new bakery business with her brother, James. Since 2007, James Middleton has been running The Cake Kit Company, with the goal of encouraging kids to cook and making the baking of party cakes easier.

Sathya Sai Baba still critical

The condition of spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba deteriorated further on Thursday with doctors saying that the functioning of his organs was erratic and he was very critical.

The godman was very critical as his heart became quite week due to intermittent episodes of low blood pressure, said Dr A N Safaya, director of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Sciences, where he is undergoing treatment since March 28.

The parameters of the functioning of the various organs of the body are also erratic and every attempt is being made to keep them in the normal limits by the administration of appropriate drugs," a health bulletin issued here in the night said.

One successful cycle of low haemodialysis was conducted to assist the kidney functioning. Doctors are continuing vigorous efforts to make the vital organs recommence their function, the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, in view of Sai Baba's deteriorating health, Andhra Pradesh Police have been deployed additional forces here to maintain law and order.

86-year-old Sathya Sai Baba was hospitalised on March 28 following problems related to heart and respiration.

Reports also claimed that tight security arrangements have been made at the airport in Puttaparthi apart from Prasanthi Nilayam, the residence of Baba, and Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences.

Prohibitory orders were clamped here as thousands of devotees started descending on the town with the condition of the Baba deteriorating.

More than 2,000 police officers and men have been deployed here.
